20 for 2020

The last few years I have written a post about my yearly goals. At the end of each year, I like to reflect on the year that has passed and to think about where I'd like to be in 12 months time. I don't put any pressure on myself to complete these goals with within a certain time frame as a lot of them are lifestyle changes, and it takes time to create new habits. But it gives me a sense of purpose and motivation as I have something to work towards. I wanted to continue the tradition this year and share my 20 for 2020. Part bucket list, part goal setting with a focus on putting myself first. If you'd like to join me, leave a comment and let me know what you'd like to achieve this year.

  1. Stay hydrated

    This is something I've been continuously working on over the last few years and for the most part I have been pretty good at drinking enough water. But there are times I forget about staying hydrated and I really feel it. I can't even tell you how much of a difference it makes to me when I drink enough water. I think this is a healthy, positive change that most of us can make!

  2. Move my body more

    Whether it's walking or doing home workouts, I want to move my body more and be more active. At the moment the day I am most active is a Wednesday, (the day I have pilates and walk to pick Elijah up from kinder) and I feel like Wednesdays are the best day of the week. Honestly, I always feel so much more positive and energised!

  3. Build up my core strength and improve my posture

    I think this one is going to be a slow and steady process as I still have a lot of back, hip and pelvic pain after giving birth to Isabella. But I want to work on strengthening my core and improving my posture as much as I can.

  4. Take my vitamins & supplements daily

    This one is really important for me as busy mama, especially as I am breastfeeding! I am currently taking a breastfeeding multivitamin, vitamin d and probiotics.

  5. Read more

    Last year I read 13 books and I really enjoyed it! I have set myself a target of 25 this year - maybe a bit ambitious with a newborn baby, but we'll see!

  6. Improve my diet

    This is a big one for me as I am an emotional eater - this is a habit I'd like to change. I'd also like to work towards having a healthier diet in general and to eat more balanced, nutritious meals.

  7. Lose weight

    This is going to be a major focus for me throughout the year. I don't really have a specific goal but do have a lot of weight to lose. 2020 is going to be my year!

  8. Playful parenting

    I'd love to work on being more playful with my little people! I am struggling at the moment with the sleep deprivation and some days it's hard not to get stressed and impatient with my babies. (I think we all have days like that, don't we!)

  9. Work on building my empire

    I won't say too much about this as I don't want to give away all my secrets, but I am feeling extremely motivated, inspired and empowered to have the life I dream of!

  10. Family days out

    Since moving to Australia, we haven't really had many family days out. Now that I'm not heavily pregnant and on crutches anymore, I'd love to go on more adventures and explore new places with my little family. I'd especially like to visit some different beaches, as I always feel so peaceful and grounded being by the sea.

  11. Take a monthly family photo

    I'd really love to be able to take one family photo a month so that we can look back in years to come and see how much we all changed throughout the year! Especially as Isabella has already changed so much in just a few short weeks!

  12. Take time to be creative

    Whether it's writing, drawing, painting, knitting, crochet or photography I want to spend more time being creative in 2020.

  13. Improve my confidence and self-esteem

    I think these two go hand in hand. I have had zero confidence and self-esteem for way too long now. Enough is enough.

  14. Continue my weekly pilates sessions

    I started doing weekly pilates sessions very early on in my pregnancy with Isabella and hope to continue them this year. They are the highlight of my week and I can't imagine ever not doing pilates now! I hope that doing pilates will help me to lose some weight, too.

  15. Start dance classes again

    I wanted to do this last year...but then I fell pregnant with Isabella sooner than we expected! When I have gotten some of my strength back I'd like to aim to do at least one dance class each week.

  16. Get more house plants

    Enough said.

  17. Start a herb and vegetable garden with Elijah

    I'd love to start a little herb and vegetable garden with Elijah so that when we have our own house, we have something to take with us and plant there permanently.

  18. Improve my photography skills

    This is something that I am always working on. I love photography and learning new tips and tricks. I don't think I'll ever tire of working on improving my skills.

  19. Spend more time with my friends

    I'd like to spend more time with my friends this year and make some new friends too!

  20. Create a vision board

    I have started collecting some photos and quotes that really resonate with me already, so I'd love to create a vision board to help keep me motivated to reach my goals. I think it's great to have them there as a constant reminder of where you want to be!
