The Me & Mine Project – May 2018

Our family - May 2018

How on Earth are we already halfway through the year? 2018 is absolutely flying past in the blink of an eye.

May was a very busy month for us. I took part in the British Heart Foundaton's MyMarathon for the second year in a row and completed 26.2 miles throughout the month.

My shop has still been busy which is wonderful, it brings me so much joy to see people loving the things that I make.

I haven't done much reading this month but I have gotten more organised with my bullet journal again after neglecting it for a while. I feel a lot more on top of things when I use it properly. My hubby and I have still been watching The Great British Bake Off on Netflix and we also watched the Back to the Future movies which are some of my favourite films.

My little monkey was poorly with hives again, he hasn't had them since January. He had his first trip in an ambulance to hospital where he had to have steriods to bring down the swelling on his lips. He is feeling much better now thankfully, but I am at a loss as to what to do now to help him. The doctors seem to want to take a wait and watch approach rather than going for allergy testing so we will see what happens.

We celebrated my husbands Birthday this month too, Elijah and I made him delicious brownies with marshmallows, sprinkles and melted chocolate on top! We all enjoyed them very much.

I've gotten back on track with meal planning and healthy eating and so I have managed to lose 4.3kg in May. It may not be very much, but at least it a step in the right direction.

What have you all been up to this month? Have you celebrated any birthdays or had any family days out? Let me know in the comments below

The Me & Mine Project – March 2018

Our family - March 2018

March has been and gone and it’s been another very busy month.

Being part of a book club has inspired me to make more time to read. This month I’ve finished three books and have started reading a fourth. I’m currently about halfway through How To Stop Time by Matt Haig and am really enjoying it.

My shop is keeping me busy which is wonderful, I love seeing it slowly grow and go from strength to strength.

We’ve been watching Friends on Netflix and I’m sad to say we are nearing the end. I feel like it’s one of those shows you can watch over and over and never get sick of but I think we will be looking for something new to watch soon. Does anyone have any recommendations?

We also decided to drive down south to visit my extended family this weekend so we are enjoying a lovely little break before we go back to reality in a few days. I can’t wait to see the look on Elijah’s face when he’s finds out the Easter Bunny has been!

What have you been up to this month? Do you have any Easter family traditions?

Getting Organised, Memories & The ABC’s of Genuine Happiness

A few days ago I realised that all the photos and videos of Elijah as a newborn I have on my phone weren't backed up to my computer. This confused me because I regularly sync and backup my iPhone. After doing a little digging, I discovered what the issue was and have managed to start transferring everything to my computer.

It's not completely done yet, and it's not an easy task because I have thousands of photos and hundreds of videos from the past almost 3 years. Literally. I'm not sure if it's normal to have as many photos and videos as I do, maybe it's a mum thing? Or maybe not. Maybe it's just the type of person that I am, I love taking photos and capturing memories. We only have one life, and we are so lucky to have the technology that we do these days that so many of us probably take for granted. But honestly, I am almost embarrassed to admit just how many there were - over 10,000 photos and almost 400 videos.

I would be interested to know how many photos and videos other people have in their camera roll at the moment, just for reassurance if anything. Please do let me know in the comments to help me feel a bit more normal.

Anyway, while sorting through some of them (and trying to make extra space on my phone for new photos) I found a note I had saved and I thought it was too good not to share.

I have been feeling a bit low for a while now, and it really helped me to read this and remember what is important in life. I truly believe that if there is a secret to genuine happiness this would be exactly it.
